Located in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina, the Tryon International Equestrian Center is more than a world class show venues. It is a destination for a successful horse show season experience for everyone involved. The majority of horse shows at Tryon International Equestrian Center are sanctioned by FEI and the governing body for each discipline. In addition to traditional horse shows, TIEC also hosts various other functions throughout the year such as rodeo events and dog shows. FENCE Equestrian CenterSince holding its first event in the late 1980's, the FENCE Equestrian Center has gained a reputation as one of the finest facilities of its kind in the Southeast. With permanent stabling for over 300 horses in eleven barns, all-weather footing in three lighted show rings (including a covered arena), on-site parking and spectator seating, the Equestrian Center hosts events in all disciplines year-round. FENCE is proud to offer TROT, Therapeutic Riding of Tryon, a program that provides equine assisted activities to adults and children with physical, developmental and cognitive disabilities in a safe, friendly and supportive environment. FENCE Equestrian Center hosts horse shows throughout the year as well as being home to the Foothills Riding Club that also offers several equestrian events each year. Harmon FieldHarmon Field (117 Harmon Field Road) consists of 36 acres of ball fields, soccer fields, a quarter mile track, tennis courts, equestrian facilities including rings and stables, a playground, a picnic shelter and a cabin for special events. Many of the Carolina Schooling Series horse shows are held at Harmon Field. Tryon Horse Riding & Hunt ClubIncorporated in 1960 as a nonprofit organization, today’s Tryon Riding & Hunt Club encourages, supports, and promotes all types of horse activities that enhance Tryon’s equestrian tradition. Foothills Riding ClubThe Foothills Riding Club sponsors horse shows at FENCE Equestrian Center March - November of each year. These include dressage, combined tests, and x-country schooling. The well organized events are favorites of riders in the Carolina Foothills and surrounding areas. Carolina Schooling SeriesThe Carolina Schooling Series has been created by several area trainers to keep up the tradition established by the Harmon Hopefuls series. We feel there is a need for quality schooling shows in the Tryon area at an affordable price. Riders who would like to compete for year end awards may join the C.S.S. association. Shows are held at Harmon Field and FENCE, in Tryon, NC and Clearview Farms, in Landrum, SC. Nearby Downtown TryonDowntown Tryon, located a few miles from the Tryon International Equestrian Center hosts a delightful collection of small shops and local restaurants. You will find spending an afternoon browsing and indulging in homemade food and delightful atmosphere is well spent. As a nod to its equestrian bent, this famous hobby horse graces Tryon's main street with a nearby sign explaining its history. This scaled down version was originally a larger model that first appeared in 1928 as part of parade sponsored by the Tryon Riding and Hunt Club.
