Acquaint yourself with the real Florida while horseback riding through shady hammocks while enjoying Florida's great outdoors. Specifically, horseback trails are listed for each area of Florida so you can find horseback riding trails near you.

Florida Horseback Riding on the Beach

Riding on the beach in Florida is a fantastic experience and not to be missed. Whereas, some beaches allow you to bring your own horses, others require you to sign up with a beach riding company. Florida provides many opportunities for beach riding including both coasts and the Florida Panhandle.

Temperature in Florida

It is hot in Florida in the summertime, so most riders just wear T-shirts and jeans. Alternatively, winter time temperatures can be chilly, especially in northern Florida, so check the weather to be sure you will be comfortable. The best practice is to layer clothes since cool morning temperatures often give way to warmer afternoon temperatures. Here are some tips for hot weather riding in Florida.

Horseback Riding Attire

Florida Horseback riding requires appropriate clothing so you will want to wear long pants such as blue jeans. Additionally, shoes or boots should have heels that will keep your feet from slipping through the stirrups.

T-shirts are popular but long sleeve shirts can offer protection from the sun as can a wide brimmed hat.

Renting Horses in Florida

Many Florida stables will rent horses by the hour for riders to ride on their own. Of course, you must have basic riding skills and knowledge of the area where you will be riding.

For those just starting out with horses, most stables offer riding lessons that include individual and group instructions. But be careful, horseback riding is very addictive and many do not kick the habit for an entire lifetime.

Horse rental costs depend on rental length, type of horse, time of day, and region. For instance, a rental for a horse beach ride might set you back $100 an hour or $150 an hour for sunrise or sunset horse rides. Some rental facilities may only charge you $30 or $50, horse riding lessons included.
